Dr. David Neumeister
I love helping people make good choices for a lifetime of health. A perpetual student, I graduated from the University of Vermont and the University of Nebraska, College of Dentistry. I returned to my home community to join a long established Brattleboro dental practice. Simultaneously, I started a five part education continuum at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.

Today, in addition to taking numerous courses in complex dental treatment planning and aesthetic enhancements I also lecture to dentists and dental students in the US on subjects of staff meetings, listening skills and group learning.

Out of the office I enjoy anything outdoors and a highlight of my life was completing Outward Bound courses with two of my children. I also hike and bike frequently and spent five years coaching the high school ski team when Brattleboro won six state championships in women's or men's skiing. I also ski jumped competitively all around New England many years ago.

I enjoy being around people who long to be the best in their field. At Dental Health, we learn and grow as a team of professionals who are committed to helping friends make good choices for long term health.

Our options to help you chew and smile with confidence are increasing every day. Our opportunities to serve you have never been greater. We enjoy helping you on the journey toward health.

Dr. Tom Heydinger
I was born in Ohio and attended Miami University and The Ohio State College of Dentistry. Because of the wide choice of outdoor opportunities, I was drawn to New England after dental school. Brattleboro has been my home since 1981.

Helping people to have a smile they are proud of is my passion. I have attended the Pankey Institute for Continuing Education, The Dawson School for Advancement of Dentistry and the Seattle Institute for Dental Education. I enjoy all phases of dentistry including cosmetics and doing root canals.

Nancy, my wife, has started a non profit agency, Girls on the Run, that teaches young girls about fitness and healthy lifestyles. Together, we organize two 5k races every year for these girls. I have coached baseball and basketball for more than 30 years. We live in Vernon with our 3 children.

Your smile tells others what you think about yourself. I am fortunate to work with a team of people who are so committed to helping others have a healthy natural smile.

Dental Hygienist

Valerie Sargent
I joined the Dental Health team in 1998 after graduating from Westbrook College in Portland, Maine. I was born and raised in Brattleboro. My father was a local pharmacist for many years. My husband, Troy, and I are kept very busy by our 2 daughters, Meghan and Lauryn. I enjoy baking, water skiing and snow skiing.

The best thing about working at Dental Health is being able to offer individualized care to my patients. I enjoy helping patients learn how their dental health can impact their overall health.

Melissa Looman
I received my dental hygiene degree from New Hampshire Technical Institute and have been helping people have healthier smiles at Dental Health since 2000. At 16 years old I started working in the medical field, first at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.

Horses are my passion. I have a horse farm in Dummerston where my twin girls and I both ride. In college I spent time on a Hot Air Balloon Chase Crew.

I enjoy working with such a supportive team at Dental Health. I appreciate the continuing education opportunities that are provided to all the team members.

Emiko Thomsen
I originally received my dental hygiene degree from the Japan School of Medicine and later from Springfield Technical Community College. At STCC I received the award for Clinical excellence in instrumentation techniques and comprehensive care. In the fall of 2007, I joined Dental Health.

In 1999, I moved to Brattleboro with my husband, Mark. We have been busy remodeling the house we bought. I am an avid tennis player and play for 3 different teams.

I enjoy offering treatment that is best for you so you can keep your own smile and chew the foods you want for the rest of your life.

Carolyn Belden
I have been a dental hygienist at Dental Health since 2003. In 1999, I graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in Worcester, Ma. Before going to hygiene school, I was a certified dental assistant.

Home is a small farm in an apple orchard where I live with my husband, Ted, and son, Austin. Together we raise sheep, turkeys and chickens.

I enjoy helping people be healthy. Everyday I have the opportunity for learning and growth that Dental Health provides.

Heidi Barnes
I am a registered dental hygienist and have been at Dental Health since 1992. I received my dental hygiene degree from Westbrook College in Portland, Maine, and have attended The L. D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.

In my spare time I like to golf, ski, and garden. I love spending time with my husband, Brett, and my son, Jackson.

I knew at a very young age that the dental profession was a life goal. My great grandfather and 2 of my uncles were dentists. Everyday I continue to have the opportunity to help clients achieve and maintain their dental health, which in turn affects their overall health.

At Dental Health I feel fortunate to work with a talented team of professionals who share the same passion for dentistry.

Dental Assistants

Sue Cassie
I have been working as a dental assistant since 1989. I have worked in offices on the east and west coast, and in different dental specialties. I was lucky to find the Dental Health team in 2008.

Bernardston, Mass, is my home. My hobbies are flower gardening and taking photos of flowers. I have a passion for the art of dentistry. I enjoy working directly with patients, helping to make their visits more comfortable and enjoyable.

Rebecca Lively
I have worked at Dental Health since 1999 and in dentistry since 1990. Not only am I a certified dental assistant but I have worked in many different roles throughout the office.

I was born in Greenfield, Mass, but now live in Leyden with my husband, Gary, and son, Matthew. I enjoy riding and am involved in rescuing troubled horses through the Canter New England Program. I am also involved with Farming Connections which works with autistic and special needs children.

Jackie Dix
Dr. Heydinger and I have been working together since 1985. I am a certified dental assistant and have been to the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education.

I was born and raised in Putney, Vt. I married my high school sweetheart and we live in Brattleboro with our 2 children, Kayla and Steve.

It is rewarding to be trusted by some of the same patients by more than 20 years. That trust is never more evident than when they send their family and friends.

Office Administration

Judy Chapman
Before joining the Dental Health team, I was a stay at home mom. My previous job experiences in Connecticut all involved customer service.

Having 3 children makes spare time a rare thing. When I can, I enjoy skiing, vacationing at the beach and reading.

I enjoy helping people have a healthy smile. I can help you to find a time that works for you to see one of our hygienists.

Shirley Hodgdon
I have been the scheduling coordinator at Dental Health for 8 years. Before dentistry, I worked in banking and was a kindergarten teacher. I have had many hours of continuing education in dentistry and also in communication.

I have travelled to Mississippi and New Orleans 4 times to help rebuild houses that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. I plan to continue making 1 or 2 trips per year.

The daily contact with our patients is what I enjoy most. I help to schedule a time that is good for you to see the dentist. And, I try to never forget a name.

Alice Muise
I enjoy meeting new people all the time. In my position at Dental Health it is important for me to understand your oral health needs as well as your financial needs so that we can ensure that you enjoy all the services we have to offer.

Prior to my arrival at Dental Health I was a receptionist at a veterinary clinic. I have also owned and operated my own business, Windham Flowers, in Brattleboro. At both places, I enjoyed developing new relationships that continue today.

In my spare time, I love being home with my husband and daughter. We are fortunate to travel several times a year to Cape Cod and Port Charlotte, Florida, to visit family and friends.

Penny Lussier
I have lived in the Brattleboro area since 1984. My husband, Dan, and I have been married for 18 years. Our 2 children are involved in many activities, which keep us very busy. I am an avid reader and enjoy cooking for my family.

Working at Dental Health is a true gift because it allows me to be involved with a great team who really care about their patients. I also have the flexibility to go to my children’s events and to volunteer at the school.
